WOMEN CONTRIBUTION TO THE ORGANIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF 2025 – “INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF GLACIERS PRESERVATION”

1. Formation of an isotope laboratory at the Center in collaboration with partners in the Sustainable Development Goals;

2. Installation of the PICARO apparatus and studying of its parameters;

3. Obtaining an ion chromatograph and studying the ionic composition of materials;

4. Organization and implementation of permanent isotope studies in the Kafarnigan, Zerafshan, Khingob, Surkhob and Pyanj river basins;

5. Organization and implementation roundtable discussions and lessons at universities, institutes and schools to promote the International Year of Glaciers Preservation 2025;

6. Organize summer schools to involve female students in glacier studies;

7. Establishment of cooperation with sustainable development partners and the project “Adventure of science: Women and glaciers in Central Asia” – UniFri;

8. Studying of pulsating glaciers and organization of expeditions in this direction;

9. Studying of the moraine layer of the glacier surface in the Eastern Pamir, Central Pamir, Vanj, Lakhsh and Tavildara;

10. Studying of hydropower potential of the Zerafshan River basin;

11. Studying of hydrological and meteorological situation of the Vanj river basin through remote sensing;

12. Preparation of bulletins on meteorological, radiation parameters and dynamics of large glaciers of Tajikistan.

 


COOPERATION OF THE ASSOCIATION “WOMEN AND GLACIERS” WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF FREIBURG, SWITZERLAND

On June 2, in the meeting hall of the State Scientific Institution ” Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan” was hold a meeting with the participation of the representative of the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, Martina Barandu and the Association of  “Women and Glaciers”. SSI “AMIT GLACIER STUDY CENTER” IN COOPERATION WITH IAEA LEADS NEW RESEARCH AND TRAINING METHODS STUDY OF GLACIERS

On October 28, 2022, a meeting was held with the Head of the IAEA Department for European Technical Cooperation, Sandra Maria Steiskal, with the aim of establishing cooperation in the field of isotope studies of glaciers and snow cover.

During the meeting, the representative of the IAEA Sandra Maria Steiskal, as well as the representative of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Olimjon Azizov and employees of the Laboratory for Water Quality, Isotopes and Sanitation of the State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Glaciers AMIT” took part in the meeting. MORE……
