On April 1, the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan” in honor to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028) held an exhibition entitled “Glaciers as a source of clean water in Tajikistan”.
The exhibition was attended by the leadership and staff of the State Institution “Tajik National Museum”, the State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan”, teachers and students from the Tajik National University, Tajik State University of Fine Arts and Design.
At the opening of the exhibition, Ibodullozoda Ahliddin, Director of the National Museum of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, welcomed the audience to the exhibition, and declared 2025 the International Year of Glacier Protection, as well as set the date for World Glacier Day.
At the opening of the exhibition, Professor Kayumov Abdulhamid, Director of the Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, said that the exhibition “Glaciers as a source of fresh water in Tajikistan” is the best way to promote the policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, President Emomali Rahmon on glaciers, as well as a representative of the glaciers of Tajikistan and the achievements of the State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan” in the field of glaciers.
The exhibition includes the best paintings of Tajik artists on the water resources of Tajikistan from the fund of the National Museum of Tajikistan. The State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan” provides clothing, climbing equipment and special devices used for expeditions and research of glaciers, as well as scientific books on the study and protection of glaciers, climate change and water resources.
In the Republic of Tajikistan, pictures from the process of expeditionary work on the study of glaciers were demonstrated by satellite photographs and drones.
Among the showpieces of the exhibition was the National Flag of Tajikistan, which was officially hoisted on January 6, 2009 on the 6th continent of Antarctica by Professor Kayumov Abdulhamid.
It should be noted that the initiative to raise the National Flag in Antarctica was carried out on the instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon.
