Resolution 77/158. International Year of Glacier Preservation, 2025

The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 70/1 of 25 September 2015, entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” by which it adopted a comprehensive, far‑reaching and people‑centred set of universal and transformative Sustainable Development Goals and targets, and reaffirming its commitment to mobilize the means required to fully implement the Agenda by 2030,
Recognizing that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development,
Also reaffirming its commitment to achieving a balanced and integrated approach to sustainable development across its three dimensions—economic, social and environmental—as well as to reinforcing the Millennium Development Goals and completing the unfinished business of those Goals, (Read more)

The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 77/158 of 14 December 2022, by which it proclaimed 2025 the International Year of Glacier Preservation and declared 21 March of each year thereafter as World Glacier Day, beginning in 2025,
Also recalling its resolution 77/326 of 25 August 2023 on the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development, 2024–2033,
Further recalling its resolution 77/172 of 14 December 2022 on sustainable mountain development, by which it declared 2023–2027 the Five‑year Action Decade for Mountain Regions, (Read more)
